SAVING LIVES. FINDING A CURE.
Est. 2004
OUR STORY
Team Brotherly Love was founded in 2004 by “kids for kids” and is dedicated to the cause of fighting Type I Juvenile Diabetes. On the surface, we are an organization devoted to “Saving Lives & Finding A Cure” for those with Type-1 Diabetes, but we also strive to achieve something else --- to achieve something that cannot be measured in dollars, lives, nor hours. Through raising money and awareness, we teach the concept of philanthropy to the hundreds of kids who participate in our various endeavors including Lacrosse Against Diabetes, Fine Friends, Dollars for Diabetes, and Kicks for Ca$h...but most importantly, we teach the power of community. Our efforts have extended globally, supporting clinics in both Bolivia and Nigeria.
To date we have raised over $2.1 Million to fight T1D!
WHO WE ARE
Jake Fine
Co-Founder
Jake was diagnosed with Type-1 Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 7 in 2004. Since then, he and his brother have built a foundation dedicated to teaching the concepts of philanthropy and raising money to help find a cure. In 2011 Jake took charge of Team Brotherly Love, further expanding the global and digital footprint.
Daniel Fine
Co-Founder
Since day one Daniel has been at Jake's side. Starting Team Brotherly Love at the age of 11, he wanted to make sure that his brother felt "normal" and that diabetes was not holding him back. While Daniel relinquished managing TBL to Jake in 2011, he is still involved in our initiatives.
Kyle Jacobson
Chief Community Officer
As Jake and Kyle grew up as "backyard" neighbors, Kyle has been a part of Team Brotherly Love since 2004. He touches every facet of Team Brotherly Love that touches the community, including helping organize fundraising, special events, apparel sales, and volunteer coordination.
David Simanovsky
Chief Community Officer
For the past decade, David has been a relentless participant in all things Team Brotherly Love. Living across the street from Jake, he spearheads the mobilization of transportation, signage, bucket distribution, and volunteer recruitment for all community events.
Danielle Blick
Special Events Coordinator
Danielle has been a part of Team Brotherly Love since day-one. She helps find new venues and tournaments in addition to increasing our digital footprint and raising awareness.
WHAT WE DO
Lacrosse Against Diabetes
Lacrosse Against Diabetes is our largest fundraising initiative. We design and manufacture apparel each year to sell at numerous lacrosse tournaments in Central New Jersey, Ohio, and Maryland.
Fine Friends
Fine Friends is a program that connects children newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes with families already living with T1D to offer companionship, positive support and advice. Our goal is to ensure that no child feels disabled by diabetes.
Dollars for Diabetes
Dollars for Diabetes is a collection initiative, ranging from storming athletic fields, tournaments, and social events of all types to asking for donations outside of local retailers and at town fairs.
Kicks for Ca$h
Kicks for Ca$h is a campaign that was set up in various schools that literally raises $1 at a time. This is done by selling JDRF paper sneakers for $1 during lunch periods and after school. In its first 2 years, Kicks for Ca$h was in over 4 schools and continues to spread.
